GameSound

Is it you or the feed?

GameSound status, right now

Three live looks from this very browser: how many fans have GameSound open, whether the public score feed is answering, and what the alert service (the small server behind locked-phone alerts and lights) has been doing. Nothing here is cached - what you see is what is happening.

What this means

If the feed is answering here but not on your phone, it is the phone: a browser that has been asleep, a data saver mode, a network that filters the feed, or a tab that was closed. Open GameSound again, tap once so the sound unlocks, and check that the feed pill in the header reads Live or Ready. If the feed reads blocked here, its edge is refusing this network for a while - the app backs off and comes back on its own within about fifteen minutes, and the alert service keeps polling from its own connection in the meantime.

The live score stream is the early trigger: while a game you follow is on, the home page holds one connection to it and checks the scoreboard the moment it hints at a score, instead of waiting for the next poll. Connected here means it works from this device; not answering means the poll does all the work, a few seconds later - never a missed score.

The alert service is what reaches a locked phone and flashes lights. Its last good poll should be minutes old while games are on and up to fifteen minutes old between them; a warning above means pushes and flashes may arrive late or not at all until it clears. Alerts while a tab is open never depend on it - those come straight from the feed to your browser.

Fans Online is the number of browsers with GameSound open right now, counted by the alert service as open connections; it shows only while someone is on, and nothing about it identifies a person. When the alert service reports them, the card also names the teams fans follow most, the game with the most watchers, and today's peak; the Live extras card shows how far behind the feed runs on a fan's own TV and how many cheers fans have sent.

Counts are for everyone using GameSound, not just you, and nothing on this page identifies a person. Learn more on the how it works page or read the privacy page.
